How it works
What the scanner looks for
A job description contains two kinds of words: the specific skills and qualifications the employer wants, and everything else. The scanner ignores the everything else.
Phrases the posting repeats
Multi-word terms that appear more than once, such as "store operations" or "visual merchandising", even when they are not on the skills list.
What counts for more
Specific tools count for more than general skills. Terms listed under requirements, or repeated through the posting, count for more than a passing mention.

Copy all of it, including skills listed under each role, not only the summary.

The full posting works best, with responsibilities and requirements.

Missing terms are listed first by importance. Copy the list and update the resume where the terms apply to you.
Using the results
Put keywords where they carry weight
A term in your skills section tells a reader you claim the skill. The same term in a bullet point shows where you used it. For the skills a posting cares about most, aim for both.
- Summary: the two or three terms that define the role, such as "financial analysis" and "SAP FICO"
- Skills section: each relevant tool once, in the posting's spelling
- Experience and projects: the important terms again, inside what you did and achieved

What a keyword scan cannot tell you
- Whether you are a strong fit. That depends on experience, not vocabulary.
- Whether a phrase means the same thing in context. "Managed vendor payments" and "accounts payable" may describe the same work.
- How a particular employer's applicant tracking system is configured.
- Rare tools mentioned once, which a fixed list may not recognise.

Is the resume keyword scanner free?
Yes. It is free, needs no account and has no usage limit, because it runs entirely in your browser.
Is my resume uploaded or stored?
No. The comparison happens on your device. The resume and job description you paste are not sent to Vignova or anyone else, and they are gone when you close the page.
Is keyword coverage the same as an ATS score?
No. Keyword coverage is one part of how a resume matches a job. Vignova's ATS resume checker also scores meaning, sections, impact, format and readability. Neither predicts whether an employer will shortlist you.
Should I add every missing keyword to my resume?
Only the ones that are true for you. Add a skill where you can show it, ideally in an experience or project bullet that says how you used it. A keyword you cannot discuss in an interview does more harm than good.
Why didn't the scanner find a skill that is in the job description?
The scanner recognises several hundred common skills, tools and certifications, plus phrases the posting repeats. A rare tool mentioned only once may not be picked up. Vignova's full ATS check uses AI to extract keywords from any posting.
Does it work for non-IT jobs?
